The coastal prairie of Texas and Louisiana (also known as Gulf Coast Prairie or Cajun prairie in Louisiana) is one of the most imperiled ecosystems in the U.S.
Coastal Prairie Partnership (CPP) is a grass-roots coalition comprised of local, state, federal, and non-profit institutions, private landowners, individuals, businesses, and educators working to achieve common prairie conservation, restoration, and educational goals. Each Fall CPP hosts the annual State of the Prairie Conference.
HOUSTON ZOO, INC.

HZI is a valued partner for the Coastal Prairie community, generously donating their Brown Education Center for the annual State of the Prairie Conference and providing much needed funding for prairie education efforts. In addition, the Zoo continues its intensive efforts to bring several prairie species back from the brink of extinction including the Attwater's Prairie Chicken and Houston Toad.
