Coastal Prairie Partnership

On February 16, 2010 the Katy Prairie Conservancy, with great assistance from Texas Parks & Wildlife, conducted its first ever prescribed fire on the Warren Ranch.

The aim of the burning program is to revitalize native prairie that is being lost to encroachment by woody plants. Fire is a powerful management tool that is essential to maintaining healthy grasslands.
